Huge new mixed-use development for Holborn

The Holborn Property Trust has been granted permission for a 300,000 square foot mixed-use development, occupying a block with a front on 50-57 High Holborn.

The development is in conjunction with the Blackfriars Property Group and the architects Sheppard Robson. Associate partner Dan Burr commented, "We have worked hard to re-engineer this city block with an optimum mix of uses. The proposal will restore listed buildings back to their original residential use and retain valuable elements of other properties."

The development, which was required to meet complex planning regulations due to its location, will include 154,000 square feet of office space, as well as residential and student accommodation.

The ground floors will house retail space and restaurants. Changes are also planned for the busy street below, including traffic calming measures to encourage pedestrians into and around the building.
