London offices get counter terrorism test Members of the insurance industry will leave their offices in London and attend a unique counter terrorism workshop.

The one-day event will be organised by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and be led by counter terrorism experts who will test delegates on their preparedness for a major incident.

Recent terrorist attacks "continue to dramatically highlight the need for businesses of all sizes to plan how they deal with the devastation and business disruption caused by a major incident," noted manager of general insurance, Gillian Donegan.

The National Counter Terrorism Security Office and the Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command will jointly create 'Project Argus', which will feature a multi-media simulation of an attack.

Delegates will then face questions and dilemmas which they must resolve, and have the opportunity to learn how to protect a firm and its employees.

"It will also be extremely beneficial for brokers and underwriters directly involved in this class of business," Ms Donegan added.

The home secretary Jacqui Smith has said British security forces should consider what "lessons need to be learnt" after the bombings in Mumbai.

London is the centre of the UK's Insurance industry and as such attracts many companies to rent office space.
