A new initiative is set to boost the prospects for commercial property and office space alongside the Thames.
The capital’s mayor, Boris Johnson, has pledged £1.5 million to extend Tower Pier, with funds possibly available for the city’s 32 other piers. A direct ferry service is also now available between Tower Bridge and Canary Wharf.
From the end of the year, Thames Clipper services will accept Oyster Pay As You Go services, further promoting the river as part of the the city’s transport network. The improvements are scheduled for completion by 2012, and will add to the London Olympics infrastructure legacy.
"When the world comes to London I want visitors to be able to glory in the beauty of our great waterway as they whiz between the centre of the capital and Olympic venues at Greenwich," Johnson said.
