Workers in govt offices get workplace guide Government office workers have been advised to adapt to "new thinking" by a guide launched to modernise the Civil Service.

Working beyond Walls was devised by the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) and workplace consultants DEGW and aims to help employees adapt to meet "the challenges of the modern age".

"It paints a picture of the Civil Service in 2020 where home-working and mobile working is commonplace, and Government office workspaces are used more efficiently and operations are more sustainable," the OGC announced.

Co-author and DEGW director, Alison White added: "Working beyond walls is essential reading for property developers, architects and designers and all those within the supply chain who seek to know and understand what those in the government and public service sectors want from their workplaces."

When designing commercial property architects now aim to devise spaces that reflect mobile working and employment trends.
