One eco-builder has offered to plant a tree for visitors to register their details with it later this month.

Arnold Laver Timber World is featuring at the Ecobuild 2008 show at Earl’s Court and made the gesture to prove its environmental credentials.

The conference has run for eight years and promotes sustainable products and building materials.

Janet Street-Porter, Kristy Lang and Wayne Hemmingway will address the conference, which hopes to attract more than 500 exhibitors and a similar number of expert speakers.

Plans for the development of commercial buildings and office space in London are sure to be discussed by Ken Livingston and Boris Johnson.

The pair are expected to take part in a debate, chaired by James Naughtie from Radio 4, on London’s response to climate change.

A growing population has prompted the government to build more houses, something environmentalists are keen to see done with sustainable energy and materials.
