Reap the rich history of Bermondsey, London. Buried within the narrow streets and the bustling foot traffic is a legacy of Kings, Knights Templar, and the Great Fire of London. Here, you can see the remains of King Edward IIIís manor home that was built in 1353, and walk the streets immortalized by Charles Dickens.
In recent years, especially in the Bermondsey Village, an uprising of artistic talent and commercial activity has revolutionized the area. Several eager entrepreneurs have found their success along Bermondsey Street. Trendy, modern bars and restaurants have given rise to a new and busy nightlife. Hotels, boutiques and other touristy staples have begun to spring up in the area. Antiques shops do very well also, especially on Friday mornings when the annual New Caledonian Antiques Market comes to call.
It is also located close to the world famous Borough Market which is Europeís largest weekly food market and fills the area immediately next to London Bridge station on Thursdayís, Friday's and Saturdays. The More London Development of offices on nearby Tooley Street has given an enhanced sense of commerciality to the area too and is now home to some of the world's largest legal and accountancy firms, not to mention the Mayor of London's offices.
The best way to access the Bermondsey area via public transport is through London Bridge Station. However, South Bermondsey has an above ground station serviced by Southeastern Trains.
Unfortunately, due to exceptionally steep growth, commercial property prices have risen in the area as demand vastly exceeds supply. Although the price tag can be daunting, profits abound in Bermondsey and you may find that the returns exceed the initial cost.
