Al Jazeera in talks for Shard London office space?

Independent Qatari satellite broadcasting network Al Jazeera is rumoured to be in advanced talks for the London office space featured at the Shard, becoming the latest name to be linked with iconic tower, according to an article published by Reuters.

Designed by renowned Italian architect, Renzo Piano, the spectacular 95-storey building has failed to secure any tenants for its offices – a factor that has been attributed to the ongoing Eurozone crisis.

The construction of the development has been funded by the state of Qatar; and a source close to the deal commented on the link with Al Jazeera – which is also based in the country.

Speaking to Reuters, a source said: “This is obviously related to the Qatar link. The views across London would be an amazing backdrop to its TV shows.”

When asked about a potential deal there was no one from Al Jazeera available to comment; meanwhile a spokesman for the Shard refused to comment, Reuters reports.
