Amazon relocates engineering hub to new London office space

Online retailer Amazon has revealed that its engineering hub is set to be relocated to a new London office space.

The office, which will house around several hundred members of staff, will be located close to the Silicon Roundabout. Paula Byrne – who sold her own technology business, Pushbutton, to Amazon just over a year ago – will act as the engineering hub’s managing director.

At the office the team will work to create new websites and applications capable of distributing all of the films and TV shows featured in Amazon’s library to screens of all sizes, the Guardian states.

With the move Amazon has become the latest American giant to locate itself in Silicon Roundabout area of east London – located near Old Street.

Search engine Google opened an office in the area earlier in the year to provide start-ups with office space. Entitled Google Campus the office is also used to provide mentoring.
