Amazon is set to move into a new Midtown London office block according to new reports.
The hugely successful online e-Commerce firm is said to have selected to move into 110,000 sq ft of London office space at 120 Holborn. The new office is located close to its 220,000 sq ft London HQ at 60 Holborn Viaduct.
The firm has yet to agree to a deal for the office space, but the move looks increasingly likely with less and less options available for Amazon in close vicinity to its London HQ – with the firm ideally looking to keep its new offices within a close distance of each other.
120 Holborn is a mixture of residential flats and a nine-storey office building currently let to British Telecom. It also boasts a ground floor retail area.
Amazon moved into its current London HQ at 60 Holborn Viaduct last year, the second office it opened in the UK capital in 2013 – the first being focussed on the further development on Lovefilm, now simply known as Prime Video.
The online retail giant took full ownership of Lovefilm in 2011 and recently clinched a deal to exclusively screen new episodes of BBC’s Ripper Street, which had been cancelled on BBC1 despite a number of the shows fans protesting.
The e-Commerce giant has continued to shift a number of staff into the capital as it looks to develop book publishing and TV opportunities.
Amazon’s actual headquarters is still located in Slough.
