Argent gets training permission

Developer, Argent has been granted planning permission for a £2 million Construction Training Centre at its Kings Cross development, Property Week has reported.

It is to build a 15,600 sq ft facility, which will help local people learn construction skills to be used in the rest of its scheme.

Carillion, HBG, Kier, and Nuttalls, have all signed up to a plan, which will see students train for national vocational qualification (NVQ) courses in construction and join them for work experience.

Outline permission for the scheme was granted in December 2006 for 2,000 new homes, 20 new streets and ten major public spaces.

Manny Lewis, chief executive of the London Development Agency said: "Alongside the transport improvements, this development will bring thousands of new homes and jobs to the Kings Cross area, boost tourism and act as a catalyst for business."
