Commercial office tenants look for greener London office space


According to a recent survey from GE Capital Real Estate, green building initiatives are one of the main influences when tenants are deciding to sign a commercial real estate lease.

Green London office space is fast becoming a major influence for tenants, as the survey revealed it was a high priority.

The world wide survey, conducted over the past year, covered the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Sweden, Spain and Japan. 

Japan, Canada and Sweden came out on top with the greatest importance placed on green building practices, 50 per cent of UK tenants said that green building initiatives are a high priority.
The high prioritisation of green office space is said to be to cut costs, provide better working conditions and promote a greener environment.

The survey also revealed that energy efficiency came out as the number one priority for tenants; other factors also included good indoor air quality.

The survey has proved that more and more London based businesses are seeking energy efficient office space.
