Commercial property builds need new managers as construction activity dwindles, it has been claimed.
Iain Atkinson, associate director, Construction & Real Estate, Hudson UK & Ireland, told Recruiter the slowdown has affected jobs and efficient project management is what was needed.
“Companies who have ongoing projects are still seeking highly skilled project and commercial management staff to ensure projects run on time and to budget ensuring profitability as a result,” he said.
A construction index by Markit and the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply hit a new low in December.
Last month’s activity registered only 29.3 – a rating of 50 indicates no change – illustrating a contraction in commercial property builds.
The index also revealed construction industry wages were down for the seventh consecutive month.
In separate news, South African businessman Nathan Kirsh has expressed his interest in UK’s property development sector – he increased his stake in London Developer, Minerva, to 29 per cent, Property Week has reported.
