With much of London’s central space taken up, plans for new office developments in the suburbs have often been touted as the way forward.
Now, the Borough of Croydon hopes it can put itself on the map as a great London office location with it purchasing a property for £19.2 million.
Named Davis House, the 100,000 square foot building is located next to the Croydon Council Offices in Fell Road.
Councillor Tim Pollard said: “Quite simply, acquiring Davis House is vital for the council’s plans to redevelop its own land holding.
“To buy the building on favourable terms, without alerting competitors, is an excellent business approach that underpins the council’s determination to secure value for money in all it does.
Croydon came under the spotlight for regeneration project in the outer London boroughs in an exhibition looking at their importance.
Those wishing to visit it can do so at the New London Architecture Centre on Store Street.
