Design chief’s London breakfast

The chairman of the design council, Sir Michael Bichard, will discuss London’s architecture over breakfast with delegates of the London Festival of Architecture.

The event was a previous favourite at earlier biennales and features A-list speakers in conversation on key buildings of architectural interest.

Janet Street-Porter, Jon Snow and Loyd Grossman will host their own sessions at the British Museum, Smiths of Smithfield and Roast later in the festival.

London’s skyline is renown for its architectural diversity and many of the more recent commercial property developments have adopted striking designs.

Perhaps the most striking still in development is London Bridge Tower, also known as The Shard of Glass.

Designed by Renzo Piano, it will feature 67 storeys of mixed development including commercial property, hotel floors and residential accommodation.
