The developers planning to redevelop the site of the Shell Centre have revealed that they will submit the plans for the new scheme before the end of this year (2012).
Situated on Belvedere Road, Lambeth, Braeburn Estates – a venture featuring Canary Wharf Group and Qatari Diar – aims to retain the Shell Centre, which provides 27-storeys of London office space. However, the group plans to demolish and rebuild the site’s other buildings, which will make way for new offices – to be occupied by Shell – as well as new homes.
The site’s plan has been designed by UK-based architects Squire & Partners, whilst Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, Peter Taylor and Grid Architects will design each of the buildings proposed for construction at the site.
Commenting on the redevelopment plans, the Canary Wharf Group stated: “Discussion have commenced with the local planning authority and relevant stakeholders to established planning constraints, detailed designs and a timetable for construction of a project which will regenerate an important section of the South Ban in central London.
“The joint venture parties anticipate submitting a planning application by the end of 2012,” it added.
