Firms could save millions, claims govt

The government has claimed UK companies could save themselves millions by getting their recruitment advice free, it has been reported.

Employment relations minister Pat McFadden said firms should take advantage of the government’s Business Link website.

"For small businesses in particular, every penny counts and they shouldn’t have to put their hands in their pockets unnecessarily," he said

"By using Business Link as their first port of call, businesses could save on the costs of advice."

Research by the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) has revealed that four in ten businesses already admit to turning to external advisors.

The government’s site contains written statements of employment, an interactive tool to calculate staff holidays and an employing people checklist.

Larger companies in city offices usually have separate recruitment departments that handle human resources issues.
