Firms in “serious talks” for The Shard London office space

Irvine Sellar, the chairman of property developer Sellar Property has revealed that the firm is in “serious talks” with potential tenants for the iconic London office building, The Shard, according to an article published by the Telegraph.

The building – developed by Sellar Property – is set to be officially unveiled on Thursday (July 5).

Although a number of firms are rumoured to have previously been in talks – such as Qatar-based Al Jazeera – Sellar Property is yet to have signed up any tenants for the building’s office space.

However, Mr Sellar revealed: “We are in serious discussions with three separate parties.

“We are not in a hurry, not under pressure,” he added.

The Shard’s formal inauguration event will take place at 1,015 ft, where guests will be entertained by the London Philharmonic Orchestra; lasers will also shoot from the building, highlighting some of the city’s most iconic landmarks – including the London Eye.

In anticipation of the inauguration Mr Sellar stated: “It’s a moment in history for The Shard. It will become as essential a part of a visit to London as going to the top of the Empire State Building is for visitors to New York.”
