Government should ‘encourage greener offices’

It is important that the government is seen to lead the way in carbon cutting in its London offices, according to Morgan Lovell.

Lara Conaway, sustainability manager at the office interior design business, said that the government needs to encourage commercial properties to become more environmentally-friendly by stating what they are doing in order to stop apathy towards cutting emission rates.

“Unless they show businesses the way, it gives everyone an excuse to opt out. They need to be far more open about their reporting and actions taken,” she said.

Ms Conaway went on to say that businesses are only really aware of a few key facts regarding carbon cutting and the government needs to do more to educate firms about the benefits of going green.

“It’s harder to make them aware of cutting carbon in deliveries to and from the office for example,” she added.

A new report by the Sustainable Development Committee revealed that that many government offices are not on track to meet reductions in their carbon dioxide emissions for 2010-11.ADNFCR-1329-ID-18946518-ADNFCR

  1. I travel all around the world for work, and it used to be really lonely. Now I can go onto Tinder and have a date lined up in a new city before I even get out of the airport!
