Legal practice Ropes and Gray set to open bigger office in London

Lawyers Ropes & Gray are set to open new London office space at 1 New Ludgate.

Expected to take place in September 2015, the move is part of the global law firm’s expansion plans in London.

The move to the 45,000 sq ft office space was announced as Ropes & Gray said it is set to increase its number of current employees to twice the size in the coming months.

The firm’s existing London office space at 5 New Street Square was opened in 2010 and currently houses 80 lawyers and 40 support staff.

Ropes & Gray managing partner, Mike Goetz, said: “We opened the London office four years ago with only four lawyers and have since grown to over 80 lawyers and more than 120 staff – a significant growth spurt.

Goetz said he hoped the new London office would be set in a prime location for developing its client base.

He added: “This move reinforces our commitment to the London market and will also allow us to further develop our core practice groups over our next phase of growth.”

Ropes & Gray was launched in 1865. The law firm has 11 offices located globally in locations including, United States, Europe and Asia and employees over 1,100 employees. The firm’s headquarters remains in Boston.
