An office in London has been handed a prestigious award for being environmentally-friendly.
Morgan Lovell was highly commended in the Best Practice In A Fit Out Project category at the British Institute of Facilities Management Investors in FM Excellence awards.
The accolade was for the development of its 1960s office block in Noel Street, Soho, which was transformed from an ‘environmental write-off’ into a green workspace.
David Henderson, managing director of Morgan Lovell, said: “Our Noel Street headquarters demonstrate that it is possible to create a sustainable office refurbishment using the building stock we already have, in a cost-effective way and achieve the social, economic and environmental benefits of a green workplace.”
Environmentally-friendly features housed within the London commercial property include the use of recycled plastic bottles for kitchen counters and clay-based paints to cut solvent emissions.
The office space also has sensors installed which mean lights are only on in areas in which people are working.
