Employees who work in London offices should feel “connected” to the capital’s waterfront, it has been suggested.
An architect has said that people in cities need to “enjoy the sense of space that the water gives” as it can help relax stressed-out employees.
“It gives you time to relax and think,” David Mackay, partner at MBM Arquitectes, said.
“One of the key objectives of opening up the waterfront to people is to allow them a frontline to the sea or river.”
He was speaking during a ‘Connecting people with the waterfront’ presentation at the WaterfrontExpo conference in Liverpool earlier this week.
Many commercial properties in London are located on or near the Thames giving office workers an attractive view from their windows.
Well-known London offices overlooking the river include the MI6 building and Millbank Tower.
Founded in 1951, MBM Arquitectes has handled a number of large projects in the past including Barcelona’s Olympic Village and Olympic Port.
