Markel International has confirmed it is set to make up more London office space at the Walkie Talkie.
The insurance firm has finalised terms with Canary Wharf Group and Land Securities to take up 24,465 sq ft of office space at the skyscraper at 20 Fenchurch Street.
The firm had already agreed to take up the 26th and 27th floors of the building, around 51,000 sq ft of prime London office space and is set to move into the huge 37-storey skyscraper in the fourth quarter of 2014.
Markel International president and chief operating officer, William Stovin, said: “With the completion of our acquisition of Alterra our needs have expanded and we are delighted to have been in a position to take on additional space at 20 Fenchurch Street to bring all our colleagues together in one exceptional location.”
Markel International is a specialist insurance provider. It is subsidiary of Markel Corporation and was created in 2000 following the purchase of Terra Nova.
Canary Wharf Group head of leasing, Richard Archer, added: “We take pride in providing bespoke, efficient and flexible space in our buildings and are delighted to have been able to provide Markel with additional space in 20 Fenchurch Street to reflect its additional needs.”
Work on the Walkie Talkie began in October 2010 and construction of the eye-catching skyscraper is set to be complete at some point in 2014.
