Proposals for a huge 81,000 square foot office and residential development in Soho have been approved by planners.
Developers Henderson Global Investors have been granted permission for the mixed-use scheme, which will feature 7,500 square feet of office space.
The finished building will also have room for six apartments and three shops, with Henderson hoping to attract “high-calibre” tenants for the block.
Architects Eric Perry will design the development – a brand new construction in Great Marlborough Street alongside the renovation of two properties on Poland Street.
Henderson said it thought the development would be a key addition to its London office portfolio.
Nick Deacon, from Henderson, explained: “The completed scheme will make a valuable contribution to our portfolio and fits well within our current investment strategy. Soho remains a highly desirable location and a market we are particularly positive about. We are confident of attracting a high calibre of occupier to the scheme.”
He added that Henderson hoped to complete in 2013 or 2014,Â to take advantage of the clamour for prime office space in the capital.
