Office moves – don’t forget the samurai sword

The office is a typically seen as a hive of activity and the mantra ‘a tidy desk represents a tidy mind’ has gained some currency.

However, experts at one office space storage solution say it is also the site for some unusual objects.

A samurai sword, a stuffed fox and pornography are some of the strangest finds in British offices, according to relocation specialists Space Solutions.

The group, who say they have shifted items from a banana to a grand piano, underlined the eccentric nature of some offices.

Lee Brandie, Space Solutions business manager, commented: "It never ceases to amaze me the bizarre range of items which are stored in offices around the country."

Alluding to one oil and gas company which needed assistance, he revealed that they had found wine which had been fermenting in a drawer, which he described as "rather strange".

"And at another firm we were asked to remove a stuffed fox and other stuffed animals which the managing director had in his office."

A recent survey by Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank indicated four per cent of businesses were planning to look for new business property and open new sites in 2008, depsite fears of an economic slowdown.
