City offices need to incorporate different types of lighting in their designs, according to a leading expert.
Dean Keyworth, former chairman of the British Interior Design Association (BIDA), said that offices could be changed by incorporating a variety of lighting.
"By having the different levels of light you can make a small space seem bigger," he commented.
According to retail chain, Lowes there are four types of lighting that help create an attractive well-lit room – ambient or general lighting, task lighting, ascent lighting and natural lighting.
"In office space I would advise different levels of light a lamp on your desk for working close up and a ceiling light because you have to do a lot of moving around the office," Mr Keyworth added.
Several of the most recent designs of new offices in London have incorporated natural lighting to help reduce energy costs.
