Park Royal industrial estate in west London is to get a makeover under new regeneration plans, Property Week has reported.
The Park Royal Partnership, Design for London and architect 5th Studio have prepared schemes with three local councils – Brent, Ealing and Hammersmith & Fulham.
“Park Royal is one of the most important industrial areas in London and one of the largest and most successful in Europe,” said Alan Coates, chair of the Park Royal Partnership.
The project will improve working conditions for 2,000 companies based in commercial property units located on the estate.
Once completed, the estate will feature new cycle lanes and places to relax.
Director of 5th Studio, Nathan Jones, explained that the scheme brought numerous challenges: “The project demanded a strategy of targeted intervention – how to improve the quality of a huge piece of city without changing everything.”
Park Royal industrial estate stretches from Heathrow to Wembley and is home to more than 40,000 employees.
