London Mayor Boris Johnson has praised property developers for helping the country to exit recession at the official opening of a 98,000 square foot scheme in London’s Victoria, which includes 78,000 square feet of office space as well as retail areas. The Peak was completed by Heron International, a development company with some 50 years of experience and almost 160 projects under its belt.
The ground floor and basement have been pre-let to HBOS, which has now been incorporated into the Lloyd’s banking group. Johnson said, ‘We are helping the rest of this country out recession and if you look at this building, I think it is a testimony to that.’
The Peak has gained a ‘Very Good’ rating from BREEAM, the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method and utilises solar hot water panels, photo-voltaic cells and solar control glazing and shading to limit unnecessary energy use.
