Chinese social games developer is set to become the first Chinese company to set up its operations in East London office space.
The Beijing-based firm has announced that it’s looking to create a European headquarters in the capital’s Tech City district.
Outlining the purpose of the office, Rekoo revealed that it primarily be used to market the company’s games to European audiences, as well as to collaborate to release products developed by European-based associates in Asia.
The company has experienced significant success in its native Asia, attracting around 20 million active daily users through games like Sunshine Ranch – the world’s first social farming game.
Speaking about the move, Lisa Pan, Rekoo’s vice president, stated: “Companies in the UK produce very high quality games, and being in London means we can attract world-class talent and find new business opportunities with UK and European developers.”
It’s also been announced that the London office will initially host 10 employees, before expanding to 25.
London-based officials have spoken with excitement about the prospect too.
George Osborne, Chancellor of the Exchequer, commented: “There are huge opportunities for us to work with Chinese companies in tech, and this announcement proves that Britain is a fantastic destination from them to locate and grow.”
