What are other big cities doing?

In the last six weeks Philip Sandzer has been fortunate enough to have visited Hong Kong, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Cannes and Munich. He was really disappointed to find so many of the independents gone and replaced by the usual suspects.

Entire areas like Le Maree and St Germain in Paris and Soho in New York, which traditionally were the homes to small boutiques and up and coming designers, have totally been taken over by global chains and made shopping there pretty boring.
