The owner of classic musicals such as The Sound of Music, the Imagem Music Group has announced that its theatrical licensing division – currently based in the US – will be expanding out into Europe.
R&H (Rodgers and Hammerstein) Theatricals Europe will be based in London offices, which will also act as the division’s European headquarters. It will represent many of the firm’s musicals in the European marketplace.
President of R&H, Ted Chapin, stated: “Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II always knew the importance of the British and European market, and they both loved London, where they had a production office for many years.
“Today, as part of a global company, our new London branch will give use the opportunity to reinvigorate our catalogue throughout Britain and across the Continent. This is an important move for use, which is why I am sending my longtime R&H colleague Bert Fink to London to help launch the venture,” Mr Chapin concluded.
