Scottish law firm eyes up London expansion

Law firm McClure Naismith has announced plans to expand its reach by opening new office in London.

The firm, which includes sites in Glasgow and Edinburgh, is looking to ramp up its London presence as it prepares to release encouraging turnover figures this week.

According to the Scotsman, McClure is looking to build on its positive performance and target key sectors in the English capital.

Senior partner Alan Thomson told the newspaper: "The importance of having a London practice cannot be underestimated.

"You’ve even got the American firms seeking to establish practices in London. In banking for example there is a limit to opportunities in Scotland. Where are those opportunities to be found? In London."

Earlier this year, McClure appointed three new partners to some of its fast-growing practice areas, including litigation, banking and project finance.
