Telefónica Digital set to move global HQ to Regent Street office

Spanish telecommunications company, Telefónica Digital, has announced that it will be leasing offices in London.

Telefónica are set to occupy 51,000 sq ft of grade A office space at the AirW1 development, located on Regent Street. The office will form a base for the firm’s new global headquarters.

The AirW1 development is scheduled to open in the summer – at which point 400 Telefónica Digital employees will make the move to the new headquarters.

Rents for the space remain undisclosed, but Telefónica are rumoured to have agreed a 15-year lease.

Commenting on the lease, chairman and CEO for Telefónica Digital, Matthew Key, said: “London is undoubtedly at the forefront of the current digital revolution and was a natural first choice for us to establish our new headquarters in.

“London is arguably the biggest hub for technology start-ups outside of Silicon Valley and a global centre for the media and advertising industries.

“It attracts the best talent and, for an international business such as ours, acts as a unique bridge between Europe and the Americas,” he added.

Mr Key concluded by stating: “Our decision to invest in having a significant presence in central London’s Regent Street is clear evidence of our determination to succeed in the digital space.”
