The London Thames Gateway Development Corporation (LTGDC) has announced it has appointed a new chief, Sir Bob Lane OBE.
He is to replace the corporation’s incumbent chair, Lorraine Baldry, who has held the post for the previous four years.
It is recognised that the Development Corporation is entering into a new phase of its life with an increased focus on delivery,’ said Mr Lane, Property Week has reported.
He said he will aim to deliver “a real change for the people of East London”.
The LTGDC is at the centre of government plans to regenerate a large part of East London.
It is overseeing the creation of new homes and mixed-use commercial property developments.
In the Lower Lea Valley it is further developing Bromley by Bow, Canning Town, Lea River Park, and Olympic Arc, as well as projects in London’s Riverside.
It is hoped the extension of the Docklands Light Railway will help increase transport links from the newly developed zones into central London.
