Paris-based asset management firm Verrazzano Capital has outlined its intentions to establish a new London office.
Founded back in 2011 by Guillaume Rambourg and partners, Verrazzano specialises in equity management on long only and equity long short strategies. It currently has a series of hedge fund strategies – Verrazzano European Opportunities, Verrazzano European Focus, and Verrazzano Advantage European. The latter of which was launched earlier this month (2013).
The firm has seen its assets grow from around $280 million from March 2012 to $625 million now. And it’s considered to be one of the highest profile hedge funds based in the French capital.
Chief investment office, Rambourg, commented on the prospect of opening a new office in London. He told Financial News: “It makes sense for us to be closer to the investor base and not miss out on investor traffic.
He also added that two or three of the team at Verrazzano may make the move across to London at some point during next year (2014).
Rambourg, however, did add: “I might come back eventually but it’s not in my immediate plan.”
The opening of the London office marks a return to the UK for Rambourg, who previously worked in the city for investment company Gartmore Group.
