Work begins on European Medicines Agency’s new Canary Wharf HQ

Canary Wharf Group has begun construction work on the Canary Wharf office space at 25 Churchill Place.

The 20-storey building, once completed, is set to become the new headquarters for the European Medicines Agency.

Two cranes have been bought in for the initial stages, which will involve the construction of the building’s concrete core; Canary Wharf Group subsidiary, Canary Wharf Contractors Limited, has been given the contract to oversee the construction of the shell, the core, and the fit out of the property.

Currently scheduled for completion in late 2014, 25 Churchill Place is set to provide the European Medicines Agency with office space completed to a grade A standard; the building is also expected to deliver a BREEAM (BRE EnvironmentalAssessment Method) of excellent.

Having agreed a deal of £46.50 per sq ft, the European Medicines Agency will occupy the building’s promenade and ground floor, as well as the first nine floors; they also have an option in place on a further four floors – totalling 27,500 sq ft of office space.
