London Area GuideCanary Wharf Office Space to Rent

Area Overview

Canary Wharf is one of London’s major business districts, on the Isle of Dogs. Home to some of the UK's biggest financial and media organisations, the area is one of the main financial centres in the UK after the City of London. The district was borne out of the former docks that were in use up until the 1970’s.

The instantly recognisable skyline features some of the tallest buildings in London, including One Canada Square, the third tallest building in the UK. It is joined by numerous residential buildings all of which are in high towers.

The Office Market

The Docklands office market is a purpose-built business district that has grown since the first buildings were erected in the late 1990’s. Designed to give large financial firms space that could not be found more centrally, it became a hub for finance in the UK. The area has diversified over the past 10 years and as such the occupier base is more dynamic. Future development will continue to support this.
