The Congestion Charge is in effect between 7am and 6pm Monday to Friday, as well as 12pm - 6pm on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays. The charge does not apply between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day bank holiday.

The Congestion Charge in London is £15 if you pay on the same day, or if you pay the charge in advance. This increases to £17.50 if you pay before midnight on the third day after travelling through the Congestion Zone, and again to £160 if you haven’t paid within three days. This £160 is a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) and must be paid or challenged within 28 days. If you pay the charge within 14 days, the notice reduces to £80. If you do not pay at all, it increases to £240.
